Design & Publish

Publishing Process

A transparent, contractual, and accountable system—built for authors who treat publishing as a professional endeavor.

At Sramana, publishing isn’t a mystery or a gamble. It’s a structured, time-bound process—designed to eliminate the confusion, delays, and vague promises that plague the industry. Here’s exactly how your manuscript moves through our system.

1. Submission Intake

What happens:

You submit your manuscript (partial or complete) via our [Submit Your Work] portal.

What you get:

A real response. Every submission is acknowledged and reviewed by our editorial team—not outsourced assistants, not AI filters. If your work isn’t a fit, you’ll be told why. If it is, you’ll receive an invite to move forward.

Response time: 10 - 20 working days.

2. Editorial Assessment

What happens:

A senior editor reviews your manuscript’s structure, quality, and market viability.

What you get:

An editorial report or discussion. We assess both creative potential and business feasibility. If needed, we recommend revisions, co-editing, or development support—with full clarity on optional costs or timelines.

No ghosting. No vague “maybe later.”

3. Publishing Proposal & Plan

What happens:

You receive a customized publishing plan with royalty structure, timeline, distribution model, and optional services (e.g., design, translation, digital marketing).

What you get:

A line-item breakdown of all terms, responsibilities, and deliverables. No ambiguity. No buried fees. You control the creative scope.

No upselling. No hard sells. No bundling tricks.

4. Publishing Agreement

What happens:

We execute a binding contract with clear terms around rights, royalties, timelines, and deliverables.

What you get:

    •    Publisher owns copyright (standard in professional publishing)

    •    Royalty share: detailed, format-wise breakdown

    •    Termination clauses: spelled out in plain English

    •    No surprise lock-ins or hidden clauses

Your legal advisor will find the document readable and enforceable.

5. Editing & Proofing

What happens:

Once under contract, your manuscript enters structured editing:

    •    Developmental Editing (if needed)

    •    Line Editing & Copyediting

    •    Final Proofing before print

What you get:

Tracked changes, collaborative editing, and clear communication—not “send it back in 6 months” delays. You always approve the final manuscript.

6. Design & Layout

What happens:

Your book is typeset, formatted, and cover-designed by professionals (not freelancers from marketplaces).

What you get:

    •    Print-ready interior

    •    Custom cover based on brand alignment and genre

    •    Review and final approval rights

We do not use pre-made templates or design without consultation.

7. ISBN, Metadata, and Distribution Setup

What happens:

We assign ISBNs, register your book in global databases, and set up distribution channels based on the publishing plan.

What you get:

Availability across Amazon, Flipkart, Ingram, and select bookstores. eBooks and audiobooks prepared as per scope. International sales (if applicable) handled with your consent and fair revenue sharing.

8. Print, Launch, and Marketing (Optional Scope)

What happens:

Print-on-demand or offset printing begins. If marketing services were selected, we initiate the campaign with clear timelines and reports.

What you get:

No fake reviews, no bot farms, no vanity promos. Only real, strategic outreach tailored to your audience. We never “blast” or “trend” your book via paid buzz—unless you explicitly request that approach.

9. Royalty Accounting & Reporting

What happens:

You receive detailed, periodic royalty reports broken down by format, platform, and country.

What you get:

    •    Transparent revenue share

    •    Royalty paid quarterly (or faster if needed)

    •    No hidden deductions

Add-on services (like paid PR or website) are only deducted if you opted for them.

You’ll always have access to the ledger, not summaries.

10. Post-Publication Support

What happens:

After launch, your title remains in our catalog. You receive continued data insights and can upgrade services later.

What you get:

Long-term presence, not post-launch silence. Your success is monitored, not abandoned.

What We Don’t Do:

    •    No unpaid “exposure” publishing

    •    No vague delivery dates

    •    No bundling of editing/design without your approval

    •    No retention of foreign rights without contract

    •    No exploitative contracts that block your genre or career moves

Ready to start?

Submit your manuscript with confidence. You’ll get a clear response—not a pitch deck or a prayer.
