This Copyright Policy governs the ownership, licensing, reproduction, and use of all intellectual property published by Sramana Publications across all mediums, including print, digital, audio, and derivative formats.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in a separately negotiated contract, all rights, title, and interest in and to any work published by Sramana Publications—including but not limited to literary content, cover design, illustrations, internal layout, digital formatting, and related marketing assets—are, and shall remain, the sole and exclusive property of Sramana Publications.

 

This includes:

 

• The copyright to the published edition(s) of the manuscript.

• All subsidiary rights licensed or exploited under our imprint (e.g., translations, adaptations, film rights, audiobook rights).

• All content published on our websites, blogs, and promotional channels.

 

 

By submitting a manuscript and entering into a publishing agreement with Sramana Publications, the author acknowledges and agrees to assign or license all applicable copyrights to the publisher under the terms specified in that agreement.

 

 

 

2. Copyright Assignment and Licensing Terms

Sramana Publications publishes under an exclusive copyright ownership model. The author may retain moral authorship credit and certain pre-agreed rights (if specified in contract), but all commercial copyright exploitation—including reproduction, distribution, performance, display, and licensing—is controlled solely by the publisher.

 

All rights granted are governed by the scope, duration, territory, and format limitations clearly defined in the publishing agreement.

 

 

 

3. Unauthorized Use and Enforcement

No content—whether in part or whole—may be copied, reproduced, distributed, publicly performed, adapted, translated, hosted, transmitted, or otherwise exploited without the express written permission of Sramana Publications. This includes but is not limited to:

 

• Republishing in print or online.

• Uploading to third-party distribution platforms (e.g., PDF libraries, eBook sharing sites).

• Using excerpts for commercial or promotional purposes.

 

 

Sramana Publications actively monitors for copyright violations and pursues both takedown notices and legal remedies under applicable law, including under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, the U.S. Copyright Act (Title 17, United States Code), the Berne Convention, and the WIPO Copyright Treaty.

 

 

 

4. Third-Party Works and Author Warranties

Authors are responsible for ensuring that any third-party materials (e.g., quotes, images, illustrations, datasets) included in their manuscript are either:

 

• Original to the author, or

• Used with documented permission or under a valid license.

 

 

By submitting work for publication, the author warrants that the manuscript does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, or proprietary right of any person or entity. Any infringement is solely the legal liability of the author.

 

 

 

5. DMCA and Infringement Complaints

• URL or description of the allegedly infringing content.

• Your name, contact information, and signature.

• A good faith statement that the use is unauthorized.

Sramana Publications will act promptly to investigate and resolve any valid complaints, including, where necessary, content removal or corrective publication.

 

 

 

6. Policy Modifications

Sramana Publications reserves the right to update or modify this Copyright Policy at any time. Any such changes will take effect immediately upon posting to this page. Continued use of our services or content constitutes your agreement to the updated terms.
